Alberta, Canada has come up with a proposal of introducing identification proof for the people who come to the casinos to gamble and they are adopting similar methods which are used in the Netherlands where it is a must for gamblers to provide a clean id.
Kent Verlik, executive director of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission’s social responsibility division spoke telling that this was a major change in the gambling culture in the province. He said that the regulation is on its way for checking the gamblers that come into their casinos to prevent under age gambling and certain players who should be banned. Their names would be cross checked before they could enter the casinos. However in Canada enforcing this has been a major problem with some gamblers filing lawsuits in Ontario, Manitoba and Quebec.
Many of the high rollers get in without any hassle because of their status as VIP’s. Since they provide one third of the revenue, they get special treatment. The good news for the people in Alberta who want to gamble is that they get a three hour special course on how to gamble (not necessary if you are a casino slots player) and on how to behave in the casinos but they need to sign a voluntary ban so if they misbehave or breach the casino rules they would have to pay a fine of up to $250.
