In the recent past Canadian television programming has expressed a lot of interest in the online casino gambling industry. Along with exploratory journalism, CTV, the country’s newly launched station, offers coverage of major tournaments in the Internet poker industry, including advertising from online casinos for casino video poker and other games. This has been welcomed by many gamblers and poker fans as well.
CTV’s first analytical program is being devoted to Calvin Ayre, who is a well-known person in the gambling industry. Let me tell you a little about him just in case you don’t know this famous person. He was born in 1961 to a Saskatchewan farmer. He learnt the value of hard work growing up on a farm and developed a keen taste for competition by playing sports during his childhood. He went on to graduate in General Science and later to do an MBA in Management Finance from City University from Seattle Washington in USA. He started off in a managerial role with Bicer Medical Systems Limited, but soon got tired of working for someone else. Guess what… he then sold all he had and with $10,000 started his own business called ‘Bodog’, yes the famous Bodog sports betting site of today. The company grew in leaps and bounds and though his initial objective was to be a software provider, his plans changed and the company became a full service offshore sports book. He soon became a multi-millionaire and in 2008 took a retirement from an active role at Bodog, but the legacy created by him will live on.
Going back to CTV, the program covers Ayre’s relationship with the Mohawk Tribe and how he squeezed his way out to bring Bodog to what it is today, and watching the program won’t make you find anything new or alarming, but a fair and honest look at Ayre’s personality.
